Proverbs 31 study, part 7

Vs.28.  Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and her praiseth her. Vs.29.  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excelest them all. Vs.30.  Favor is deceitful, beauty is vain, but a woman that feareth the L ORD , she shall be praised. Vs.31.  Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her works praise her in the gates.     Proverbs 31:28-31 I love vs.28, "her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, he praiseth her."  I hope and pray, that one day if I ever marry, that my children will rise up and call me blessed, and that my husband would praise me.  I wonder if the virtuous woman was a real person. It says in verse 29 that "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou  excellest them all."  What if the proverbs 31 lady was a real person, how amazing would it be to meet her! I could probably sit and listen to her words of wisdom all day!:)   I need to read this verse every day...

Prayer Request

Hey everyone, Please pray for a little girl that used to go to our church. She is about 4 or 5, her name is Savanna.  Her colon stopped working, and they said her skin is a bad color, she is in the hospital.   Please pray that God would heal her! God has all His children in His hands -Anna

Proverbs 31 study, Part 6

Vs.25.  Strength and honor are in her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come, Vs.26.  She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. Vs.27.  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.     Proverbs 31:25-27 "Strength and honor are in her clothing."  I think think this may be figurative speaking, I believe what is being said here, is that she is strong, confident, and she has honor, she does not do things to shame herself, such as wearing low cut shirts that show off herself, or tight, short skirts that shape her figure.  God wants us women to dress like a lady.     .  In verse 26 I read that "She openeth her mouth with wisdom,  and in her tongue is the law of kindness."  I pray to God to please help me in this area of my life, I want to be good big sister, and be wise in my charge over my little siblings, and kind in my words.  Finally I s...

Proverbs 31 study, Part 5

Vs.23.  Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. Vs.24.  She maketh fine linen and selleth it; and delivereth girdles to the merchant.   Proverbs 31:23-24      In verse 23, it says that, "her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land."  We read in the scriptures several times, that men who sit in the gates are the important men, so the virtuous woman's husband was an important man. She probably helped him to get to his highly esteemed position, by supporting him, and honoring him, by always speaking highly of him to other people, never pointing out his faults.  And he had enough trust in her, that he could be gone for long hours, sitting and talking, and not having to worry about his wife.  It says in verse 24 that she made things and sold them.  Maybe she gave the money to her husband, to use as he wished, or maybe she used the money to help other people, we ...

Proverbs 31 study, part 4

Vs.20.  She stretcheth forth her hands to the poor yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. Vs.21.  She is not afraid of the snow for her household for all her household are clothed with scarlet. Vs.22.  She maketh herself coverings of tapestry, her clothing is silk and purple.    Proverbs 31:20-22      I see here in verse 20 that she gave, and took care of the poor. She did not look down on those who were less fortunate than her. I believe she loved everyone, just as Christ commands us to in John 15:9 - "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love."  my prayer to God is that we could all learn to love people, no matter who they are.  I see in vs. 21-22 that she could sow, and always bought the best material, so that she could keep her family warm in the winter. I think that even if they didn't have a fire place in the house, they could still stay warm, because she worked hard to make the very...

Proverbs 31 study, Part 3

Vs.17.  She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. Vs.18.  She percieveth that merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. Vs.19.  She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.  Proverbs 31:17-19      These verses are a little harder for me to understand.  vs.17. says that "she girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms." I believe this means that she wasn't a delicate little flower that just sat there looking pretty, She was strong, and she worked hard, I guess this means that God wants us ladies to strengthen our arms, stay fit, so that we can take care of ourselves, if we need to:)  vs.18.  It says that "she perceiveth that merchandise is good, her candle goeth not our by night."  She knew how to shop, she didn't necessarily use as little money as possible, but she bought good things, that would last a long time, saving money in the long run, this is ...

Welcome to my Blog! :-)

Image
Hello! I am Anna. I love to read the Bible, and I love to write (though I must warn you, my spelling and grammar is sad), and I love to write about what I read in the Bible! I have never done anything like this Blog before, it is a huge leap of faith for me, so please bear with me while I get the hang of this.    Let me tell you a little something about myself.  I am a teenage girl growing up in a small town in Arkansas. I love to play volleyball at church with my friends. I go to an Independent Baptist Church. My church (and I) believe that the King James Bible is the one true Bible, we believe in no alcohol, no drugs, no homosexuality, and a godly courtship between one man and one woman before marriage, and purity until marriage. I don't meant to offend anyone, but I want everyone to know where I stand. I love to play the piano, hymns are my favorite pieces to play. Music is SO important to me.  I believe music controls the way you think, feel,...

Proverbs 31 study, Part 2

Vs.14.  She is like the merchants ship; she bringeth food from afar. Vs.15.  She riseth while it is yet night and giveth meat to her household, even a portion to her maidens. Vs.16.  She considereth a field and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.  Proverbs 31:14-16   I read here, that she only gets the best for her family, even if she has to go far off to find it. And she is a cook, she rises early to probably prepare food for the men before they leave for work for the day. And she takes care of her servants.  I also notice that she is wise with her money. she doesn't just go around buying anything that she likes, she "considereth a field and buyeth it."  She thinks out a purchase, and weighs her options, so that she gets the best deal.  and... one of my least favorite, she is a gardener. I guess I have always disliked gardening, I have always hated bugs, and there tend to be bugs in a garden:) but I guess God i...

Proverbs 31 study, Part 1

vs.10. Who can find a virtuous woman for her price is far above rubies. vs.11. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her so that he shall have no need of spoil. vs.12. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. vs.13. She seeketh wool and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.   Proverbs 31:10-13 Lets stop there for today, and think about these verses.  It says in verse 10 of proverbs 31, that a virtuous woman's price is far above rubies! now whenever we think about that, I think we tend to think "yeah, a virtuous woman is really precious."  But how much have you really thought about her. "Her price is far above rubies."  People in this day and age like to compete, to see who has the most money, and get to earn the title "richest 'man' or 'woman'" on earth. But, if you think about it, what God is saying, is that a virtuous woman is worth more than all the riches on earth!making a virtuous woman the ri...

Nehemiah 9:6

"Thou, even thou, art L ORD  alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, and thou perservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee." -Nehemiah 9:6       Oh how true this verse is, but oh how little thanks we really give to God!  We give thanks to great scientists, such as Albert Einstein, and Thomas Edison, two of our greatest scientists. We give memorials to our war heroes, those who have bled and died for us so that we might live safely in our homes. We honor our founding fathers, Ben Franklin, George Washington, and many others.  But what thanks is our country giving to God?  We make sodomy legal. We drink till we are drunken, and put harmful drugs into our bodies.  All these things go directly against Gods directions. And how does disobeying Gods will show thanks? It doesn't.  I mean, you don't show thanks to your mom by not clean...
